The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it; 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
