Mankind! eat of whatsoever is in the earth, lawful and clean, and follow not the footsteps of Satan; verily he is an enemy unto you manifest. 168 He enjoins you to commit vice and indecency and induces you to attribute to Allah's name things you do not know to be from Him. 169 But when they are told, "Follow what God has bestowed from on high," some answer, "Nay, we shall follow [only] that which we found our forefathers believing in and doing." Why, even if their forefathers did not use their reason at all, and were devoid of all guidance? 170 The example of those who disbelieve is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries cattle or sheep - deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand. 171 O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed He Whom you worship. 172 He hath forbidden you only carrion, and blood, and swineflesh, and that which hath been immolated to (the name of) any other than Allah. But he who is driven by necessity, neither craving nor transgressing, it is no sin for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 173 Those who conceal any part of the Scriptures that God has revealed, and thus make a little profit thereby, take nothing but fire as food; and God will not turn to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor nourish them for growth; and their doom will be painful. 174 They are those who bartered away good guidance for error, and pardon for punishment: How great is their striving for the Fire 175 This is because Allah has revealed the Book with the truth; and surely those who go against the Book are in a great opposition. 176
