Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
