And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
