So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
