And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
