The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 the blast overtook them early one morning. 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 About all what they used to do. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death). 99
