The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie. 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
