The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 therein to abide for ever, 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 (A thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, Dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie. 5 Possibly you may risk your life by grieving (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) for them if they do not believe in this narration. 6 That which is on earth we have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them - as to which of them are best in conduct. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Do you think the men of the cave and Ar-Raqim were so strange among Our signs? 9 When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. 10 And thereupon We veiled their ears in the cave for many a year, 11 Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. 12
