When We said to the angels: ''Bow before Adam,'' they all bowed but Iblis, who refused. 116 We said, "Adam, this (satan) is your enemy and the enemy of your spouse. Let him not expel you and your spouse from Paradise lest you plunge into misery. 117 Surely it is (ordained) for you that you shall not be hungry therein nor bare of clothing; 118 And that thou thirstest not therein nor art exposed to the sun's heat. 119 Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?" 120 Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree and their shameful parts became revealed to each other, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and strayed into error. 121 Thereafter his Lord chose him, and turned again unto him, and He guided him. 122 God then told them, "Get out of here all of you; you are each other's enemies. When My guidance comes to you, those who follow it will not go astray nor will they endure any misery. 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." 124 He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?" 125 He will say: "Even so it is. Our Signs came to you and you ignored them. So shall you be ignored this Day." 126 Thus We recompense those who are unjust and have no faith in Our revelations. The torment in the life to come will be more severe and last longer. 127 Do they not learn a lesson from Our destruction of many generations before them in whose dwelling-places they walk about? Surely in this are signs for men of understanding. 128
