1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
