۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By the Lord, I will devise a plan against your deities after you have gone away and turned your backs!" 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
