And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
