O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But they split in their affair between them into sects, each party rejoicing in what is with them. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they imagine that the wealth and children We have provided 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in perplexity as to this, and they have deeds besides that that they are doing. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil. 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 but those who disbelieve in the Everlasting Life deviate from the Path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 until We open before them a gate of [truly] severe suffering [in the life to come]: and then, lo! they will be broken in spirit. 77
