۞ But those who do not believe that they are destined to meet Us are wont to say: "Why have no angels been sent down to us?" - or, "Why do we not see our Sustainer?" Indeed, they are far too proud of themselves, having rebelled [against God's truth] with utter disdain! 21 On the day when the criminals see the angels, there will, certainly, be no rejoicing for them. Rather, they will plead to the angels, "Please keep away from us (do not drive us into hell)." 22 We shall turn to their deeds and scatter them like particles of dust. 23 The inhabitants of Paradise that day, better shall be their lodging, fairer their resting-place. 24 On a Day when the sky will split open with its clouds and the angels are sent down rank upon rank, 25 The true kingship on that day belongs to the Most Gracious; and that is hard for the disbelievers. 26 It will be a hard day for the unbelievers. It will be a day when the unjust will bite their fingers, (regretfully) saying, "Would that we had followed the path of the Messengers. 27 Oh, would that I had never chosen such a one for my companion -- 28 "He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!" 29 The prophet will say: "O my Lord, my people had fettered the Qur'an." 30 Even so have We appointed unto every prophet an opponent from among the guilty; but Allah sufficeth for a Guide and Helper. 31 The disbelievers say, "Why has not the entire Qur'an been sent down to this man all at once?" -Well, this has been done to impress it deeply on your mind, and (for the same object) We have sent it down piecemeal by degrees. 32 There is not an example they advance to which We do not give you a right answer and a better explanation. 33 Those who will be pushed faces forward into Hell will be in a worse position, farther away from the path. 34
