And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
