And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
