And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
