And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
