And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
