Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
