And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
