And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
