And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
