And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
