(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
