The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
