The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
