(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
