'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
