Alshu'araa' 7 of 11
(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
