Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
