The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 And cornfields and palm-trees having fine spadices? 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 So fear you God, and obey you me; 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
