The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
