[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
