The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
