Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
