And truly, this (the Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
