Corruption has appeared in the land and sea, for that men's own hands have earned, that He may let them taste some part of that which they have done, that haply so they may return. 41 (Muhammad), tell them, "Travel through the land to see how terrible was the end of those who lived before. Many of them were pagans. 42 So set thy purpose resolutely for the right religion, before the inevitable day cometh from Allah. On that day mankind will be sundered- 43 he who has denied the truth will have to bear [the burden of] his denial, whereas all who did what is right and just will have made goodly provision for themselves, 44 so that Allah may, out of His Bounty, reward those who believe and act righteously. Verily He does not love the unbelievers. 45 And of His signs is that He sendeth winds heralding rain and that He may make you taste of His mercy, and that the ships may sail at His command and that ye may seek His grace, and that haply ye may return thanks. 46 (Muhammad), We had sent before you Our Messengers to their people. The Messengers showed them clear miracles and We took revenge on the criminals. It was necessary for Us to help the believers. 47 Allah is He Who sendeth the winds so that they raise a cloud and then spreadeth it along the heaven as He will and breaketh it into fragments, and thou beholdest the rain come forth from the interstices thereof. Then when He maketh it fall upon such of His bondmen as He will, lo! they rejoice. 48 Though they were before this, before it was sent down upon them, confounded in sure despair. 49 Look, therefore, at the signs of God's mercy; how He resurrects the earth after its death. Truly, the same God will resurrect the dead; for He has power over all things. 50 And if We send a wind, and they should see their tilth yellow, then they would thereafter remain disbelieving. 51 For you do not make the dead hear nor make the deaf hear the call when they flee, turning back. (The disbelievers are referred to as dead and deaf.) 52 Nor canst thou be a guide to the blind out of their error; thou canst make none to hear save those who believe in Our signs, and who have surrendered themselves. 53
