The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 and the scarers scaring 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 Verily your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the planets, 6 and have made them secure against every rebellious, satanic force, 7 [so that] they [who seek to learn the unknowable] should not be able to overhear the host on high, but shall be repelled from all sides, 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. 11 Nay! you wonder while they mock, 12 And heed not when they are reminded, 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 And also our forefathers? 17 Proclaim, “Yes, and with disgrace.” 18 It will be but one Shout, then see, they are watching 19 And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment. 20 This is the Day of Judgment in which you disbelieved. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
