۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
