۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
