۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 What, do we then not die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
