And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 and We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! 79 That is how We recompense the righteous: 80 for he was truly one of our believing servants: 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship? 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 "Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand. 93 Thereafter they (the people) came to him in haste. 94 He said, “What! You worship what you yourselves have sculpted?” 95 "When God has created you and what you make?" 96 They said, "Let us build a fire and throw him into the flames". 97 And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost. 98 He said, 'I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" 100 whereupon We gave him the glad tiding of a boy-child gentle [like himself]? 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple. 103 We called to him, "Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 110 Verily he was one of Our believing bondmen. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Is-haq, a prophet, and of the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
