Hizb 46
< random >
And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 shall not be able to tempt anyone away from Allah 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 What though they would say, 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Your Lord, the Lord of Honor, is too exalted to be considered as they describe Him. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
