AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 we are the rangers, 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And there were those who said, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
