Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
