The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
