S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)! 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
