S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they called, but time was none to escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. 14
